Barnstable woman given lesser charge in hit-and-run accident

24-year-old Barnstable resident Angelica Barroso has been charged with fleeing the scene of an accident causing personal injury after hitting 20-year-old Sheila Moreta, who was riding a bicycle when the accident happened back in June 2012.

Barroso was originally charged with fleeing the scene of an accident causing death, but according to the judge who handles her case, “harm resulting in death was not proved beyond a reasonable doubt”.  The charge was then lessened because Moreta was struck by another vehicle after Barroso’s vehicle hit her, according to The Cape Cod Times.
