$500,000 Settlement For Failure to Secure A Psychiatric Patient Resulting In Suicide
Crowe & Mulvey obtained a $500,000 settlement for a case involving a twenty year-old psychiatric patient who committed suicide. The patient was being transferred by ambulance from one medical facility to another. Despite the fact that the patient had previously attempted to commit suicide and had suicidal ideations, the EMTs responsible for his transfer failed to secure him to a gurney. As a result, the patient was allowed to flee and eventually committed suicide.
